Schedule classes and recesses in an elementary schedule

Use the Workspace matrix to schedule classes and recesses for groups in your elementary schedule.

Note: If your groups contain subgroups, or platoons of students, you need to define a schedule for each platoon within a group. Platoons are listed separately in the Group Filter at the top of the page, or you can click next to the group name to view them.

You can also reschedule classes on the matrix.

To schedule classes and recesses:

  1. Log on to the Build view. If the current school has the scheduling mode set to Both, select Build > Elementary mode
  2. Select Workspace > Matrix View.
  3. Use the first Schedule Mode drop-down to select Class.
  1. At the next Schedule Mode drop-down, do one of the following:
    • Select Day View, and then use the Day Filter to select a day.
    • Select Week View, and then use the Teacher Filter to select one or more teachers, if desired.
    • Note: To use Week View, you must make at least one selection in the Group Filter or Teacher Filter.

  1. Make selections from the Term Filter and Grade Filter, as needed.
  1. Click Mass schedule. The Mass Schedule pop-up appears.
  2. Select the Clear existing schedules checkbox if you want to clear all the currently displayed schedules.
  3. Click OK.
Note: Click the course name header above the Mass Schedule button to view the School Course pick list. The read-only pop-up includes Minimum minutes per session, Total minutes per cycle, Total minutes scheduled and Remaining minutes. (The Remaining minutes value is equal to the Total minutes per cycle minus Total minutes scheduled.)

To reschedule a class using drag-and-drop:

  1. Click and hold the class name, and drag it to a different spot on the matrix.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to apply the change to every day, No to apply it only to the current day or Cancel to cancel the move completely.

Important: Only courses that have values assigned to the "Preferred Start time" and "Preferred Start day" fields on the Course details page are auto-scheduled.
