View cache statistics

View cache statistics to monitor performance in your system. Aspen Technical Support uses this functionality.

To view cache statistics:

  1. Log on to the District (Root Organization) view.

  2. Select Admin > System Status > Cache Statistics. The Caches page appears.

    " "

  3. The following table describes the information in the columns.

    Field Description

    Class Name

The classes listed have individual settings for cache. Classes appear here unless they are specifically excluded.

    Capacity

This value indicates the setting for each class or default. These values are set in the CacheConfig.properties file.

Note: Changing the settings in this file is not recommended. However, if you must change the file settings, it is advised that you submit a Service Request to make these changes with Follett's assistance. Improperly setting values can have a significant deleterious effect on the application's performance.

    Current Size

This column displays how many objects are loaded into the cache, out of the potential capacity.

    % Used

    Aspen calculates this value.

    Number of Hits

This value indicates the number of hits founds when Aspen searched for this record in the cache.

    % of Hits

Aspen calculates this value based on the Number of Hits.

Number of Miss This value indicates the number of misses found when Aspen searched for this record in the cache.
% of Miss Aspen calculates this value based on the Number of Miss.
    Number of Clear

This value indicates the number of times the class, or classes, were cleared from the cache.

Note: If you see the same number repeated for several classes, it could indicate that a user cleared all of them.

    Notes on the Options menu:

    • Clear Class from Cache: Clears the cache for the selected class(es) and broadcasts the clearing of the cache to other nodes.

    • Clear and Reinitialize Object Cache: Clears all classes from the cache, as well as preferences, preference definitions, and dictionary cache. Aspen creates a new cache based on the up-to-date configuration, and broadcasts the clearing of the cache to other nodes.
