Convert special education workflows

Sometimes, you might need to convert a workflowClosed a method of coordinating multi-step processes involving one or more users into a different kind of workflow.

For example, a student might transfer into your district with an active IEPClosed Individualized Education Program from the former district. After the student is enrolled in your district, you might enroll him in the special education program. The system automatically creates a Draft IEP and begins an Initial Referral workflow for the student. Because the student’s IEP is actually already active, you do not want to follow the Initial Referral workflow; you need to convert the Initial Referral workflow to a Transfer IEP workflow.

To convert a workflow:

  1. Log on to the Special Education view.
  2. Click the IEP tab.
  3. Find and select the student.
  4. Click the Workflows side-tab.
  5. Click the workflow you want to convert. A checklist appears.
  6. On the Options menu, click Convert Workflow. The Convert Workflow pop-up appears.
  7. At the New workflow field, select the appropriate workflow.
  8. Click OK. The system converts the original workflow to the workflow you select. For example, if you convert an Initial Referral workflow to a Transfer IEP workflow, the system creates a Transfer IEP draft.
  9. Now, complete the more appropriate checklist, and enter information into the new IEP.
