Define Professional Development course section details

Define the details, including meeting times, for each section of a professional development (PDClosed Professional Development) course.

To define the details:

  1. Log on to the Personnel view.
  2. Click the PD Admin tab.
  3. Click the Sections side-tab.
  4. On the Options menu, click Add. The New PD Activity Section page appears.
  5. Use the table to enter information in the fields:
  6. Field Description

    Identifier

    Either begin typing the course name and select the one you want, or click Search icon. to select a value from a pick list.

    Section number

    Type the section number, such as 001.

    Title

    The title of the course appears.

    Start date and End date

    Type or click Select Date icon. to select the start and end dates of the section.

    Instructor

    Type the instructor’s name.

    Enrollment max

    Type the maximum number of people who can enroll in this section.

    Enrollment total

    Type the number of staff members enrolled in the section.

    Enrollment open date

    Type or click Select Date icon. to select the date staff members can start enrolling in the section.

    Enrollment close date

    Type or click Select Date icon. to select the final date staff members can enroll in the section. After the date you type or select, staff members can no longer select this section when enrolling.

    Enrollment type

    Select one of the following to determine the enrollment type of the section:

    • Immediate: The system automatically enrolls approved staff members into the section on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Delayed: A personnel manager or other administrator reviews and approves staff requests based on staff needs, availability, etc.
  1. Click Save.

Then, define meeting times for the section.

To add meeting times:

  1. Click Add. A blank line to define a meeting time appears.
  1. Type or click Select Date icon. to select the date.
  2. Type the start time and duration.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Click Search icon. to select the school in your district where the section will meet; then click Search icon. to select the room.
    • Type a location in the Offsite Location field for external courses, or courses that do not meet in your district.
  1. Click OK to save this meeting time for the section.
