  4. If the system cannot schedule this student during specific periods and days, next to Unavailable schedule, click Edit Schedule. The schedule matrix appears. Click the terms, and then click each period and day during which the student cannot attend classes. Click OK.
  5. For example, assume a student has a medical condition and cannot attend any first period classes. Or, for bigger districts, counselors can block off a student's schedule during the part of the day the student attends classes in another school, such as vocational classes.

Note: To print a copy of student course requests, on the Reports menu, click Student Requests.

  1. Now, click the course number of any of the requests to define if the request is an alternate, or to identify alternate requests if the student does not get into that course. You can also identify a specific section type this student needs for a course, such as Bilingual.

Note: At the Alternate Type field, you can determine how the system should handle this request. By default, all alternate requests are Substitute; the system uses them to replace students’ primary requests when students cannot be scheduled into them. Or, select Auto-fill for the scheduler to use the alternate request to fill in any holes that are not occupied by primary requests in the student schedule.
